Once upon a time, I used to be an individual who watched three films a day at school and university libraries. Consequently, now that I am into academia once again, I had an unwavering desire to use Kanopy, the platform offering boundless access to documentaries and world cinema. Even upon enrolling at the University of Tokyo, Hongo in the spring, I found myself beseeching the staff at the comprehensive library, tearfully asking, “Why unavailable?”
However, upon careful thinking, it occurred to me that if I registered using Harvard’s credentials, it should work – and when I tried, it indeed did. Naturally, my upcoming enrollment at CUNY also allowed for seamless access. The fact that Herzog and Angelopoulos are available to watch anytime, anywhere, truly emphasizes the greatness of the United States of America.
The question remains, can we continue to hold affection for the peculiar “smoke+fog=Victorian smog” (which becomes mostly clear by looking at the Kyodo News’ projected schedule) that envelop this Japan? Who prove?
