Sannenzaka Correspondence

Editors’ Diary 10/08/2023

I was surprised to learn that Geneva’s graduate program includes a course on negotiation studies. This seems to be common in law schools, business schools, and diplomatic policy schools. There appears to be a wealth of accumulated practical knowledge, including finely tuned strategies for top-level negotiations and the use of workshops. In the United States, Harvard Law School, for instance, publishes specialized academic journals, suggesting efforts towards systematization.

While not on par with negotiation studies, journalistic investigation is also imbued with diverse practical insights. Although it might strike the general populace as unconventional, I firmly believe that direct, in-person interactions involving appeals and deep engagement are paramount techniques.

The Japanese government is also planning a top-level summit in the near future, but I will neither make any reference to it nor hold any expectations in this regard.
